Swiss Army Wives’ Book Club 101
RULE #1: You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book. You MUST read the book.
If you don’t read the book, you can’t participate in the discussion. If you don’t read the book, you shouldn’t go to a book club party. If you don’t read the book, you will be placed squarely in the No Fun Zone. Get it?
After that, there really are no rules, just suggestions:
You can simply read and savor the book. Some people find it helpful to keep a notepad and/or highlighter handy and make notes. Additionally, highlighting and note-taking on the iPad and Kindle is SUPER easy, so if you haven’t ordered you book(s) yet, you might opt for the eBook if, you have a device.
Bottom line, it’s up to you HOW you read the book. There will not be a test or final exam, this is to be enjoyed. But, for you and others to thoroughly enjoy a book club experience, you should be prepared with either questions or comments, or both. If it helps for you to jot them down, then by all means, do so.
For the discussion of Spoon Fed, we will post some comments and questions on Swiss Army Wives, the morning of Thursday, November 3 (mark your calendars!) and you will be invited to discuss in comments for as long as you like.
If you’re not in the Houston or Dallas-Fort Worth areas (where, respectively, Kelly and I will be holding book club gatherings), and you choose to invite local members of Easy Company to a book club meeting in your ‘hood, it will be up to you to set the date, time, and location; to appoint a moderator/leader (if not yourself); and, set the schedule for the meeting. Tomorrow we’ll offer some fun (and easy) ideas for hosting a book club party, as well as how to keep the conversation moving. (I’ve been to some baaaaaaaaaaad book club meetings, Easy Company. We want yours to be fun, brain-tickling, and a complete success.)
Programming note: We’ll announce the next book on Thursday, November 10.
Be sure to check back tomorrow for our round-up of book club hosting ideas! And, feel free to post any questions you have in comments!
